I graduated from school after completing my SPM, knowing it is more convenient to spend a preparatory year in the university where I aimed to study my undergraduate course. To join an undergraduate course, must either join diploma or foundation. So, I choose to do my foundation studies in engineering. I began applying through the Manipal International University(MIU) website, which was a surprisingly manageable process in comparison to other application methods. I applied for Foundation in Engineering and manage to get the course. I joined the University in April 2017, living alone for the first time and being completely independent.
Semester 1:
First semester was kind of though because it was something new to me but I manage to cope up by visiting lecturers and asking doubts to them. The top picture shows about my 1st presentation for my English where everyone has to create a superhero of themselves and present it to the whole class. This presentation is to show how we get to avoid stage fear and gain how to present.
Semester 2:
In this semester is where I get to experience a lot of activities. The 1st one I would like to talk about joining orientation committee member.
Orientation Committee(OC) member is where they facilitate new intake students. I get the chance to be one of them and it was good experience where u get to know new people, be friendly and nice to them. It also helps you gain leadership skills because on the second day of the event, each OC member gets a group and have to manage the group.
In the middle of Semester 2, our class has been divided into several groups and each group is assigned to visit and do NGO work at either an old folks home or orphanage. So, our group choose to visit Sri Raghavendra Orphanage, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. We planned everything 1 month before visiting the orphanage. When we reach there, the place didn't look like a normal home. The place looked like a temple. When we went there, we cleaned the whole place, distributed foods for them and one of our team members was good in playing guitar. So, we invited them to gather around and played a song for them.
Semester 3:
I ended my foundation with CGPA 3.02. I continued my studies in Bachelor in Civil Engineering(Hons) later on. I gained a lot of experience and skills from foundation that helps me now in degree.
